The Iceland Air mobile app keeps everything you need in one place. Their homepage gives a funky design of brightly colored boxes with menu options but it is easy and clear to find what you need from the homepage. The mobile site allows you to book flights, check in to your flight, manage your trips, check flight status, view flight schedules, find out baggage information, sign in as a frequent flyer and find hotels in the area.
Booking flights begins as a straightforward process. You cannot book multi-city destinations but you are able to get flexibility with your dates. Iceland Air keeps track of what step you are in their five step process as you are booking so you know how close you are to completing the process. On the flight page, they mark the lowest fare with a small blue line in the corner. In the second step of the process, after you’ve chosen your flights, you can view the different cabin options and price differences between Economy, Economy Class Flex, Economy Comfort and Saga Business Class. You must select the class and price you would like before moving forward. Iceland Air will show you how your fare breaks down, your flight details and your baggage information before you move forward with your booking so you are aware. You can log in using your Frequent Flyer miles during the process to get your miles. You are also able to select your seat when you book.
Iceland Air gives you the ability to check flight status so you can stay up to date on your flight or a loved one’s flight. You can also use their mobile site to view time schedules to start preplanning your trip.
If you are a Frequent Flyer member, you can log into the mobile site to view your account, see your points and use your Saga points. If you are not a member, you can sign up from the mobile website to begin collecting points.
Iceland Air has a useful feature to search and book hotels in the area directly from the mobile app. You can also book a rental car and search for vacation packages from the mobile site. This way you can manage your entire trip directly from their mobile site.
The Stopover features invites you to explore Iceland if you happen to be on a stopover between flights. You can type in your destination city and your dates and schedule a flight with stopover time in Iceland as part of your itinerary. This way you can visit Iceland for up to seven nights at no additional airfare. The Stopover feature is available with more than 20 destinations in Europe. This is a unique tool and benefit that many travelers may not know about but would love to take advantage of to see Iceland during their separate vacations.
The Iceland Air website works but it is not highly intuitive. While the main features you need are featured on the home page, there are some slow load times and it’s not built to be an app so it will not integrate with your smartphone.
